Rivierpark Maasvallei Sittard-Geleen

Rivierpark Maasvallei Sittard-Geleen

Out over the meandering banks of the river Maas (Meuse) in Belgium, and back again through the picturesque Maas villages in Limburg – it is all included to this cycle route. You park and start at the junction Dijk-Oude Veerstraat in Grevenbicht and then cross the border river on one of the enchanting ferries. To avoid nasty surprises, please check the sailing times in advance. On your way back, you will see the splendour of Limburg’s wetlands between the Maas river and the Juliana Canal. This area has a wealth of old waterways, dikes and floodplains and has its own unique flora and fauna. You will also discover the old historical centre of Elsloo, brewery ‘De Fontein’ and the elegant castle of Obbicht. If you want to enjoy your coffee with a wide view of the river Maas, the spacious outdoor café ‘Terras Maasoever’ in Berg aan de Maas, is highly recommended (please note: closed on bad weather days).
