Langs mijn en water Sittard-Geleen Mijnroute 3

Langs mijn en water Sittard-Geleen Mijnroute 3

To this day, the people of Limburg are still proud of their rich mining past. Everywhere in the region, you can still see the traces of this prosperous period. In The Year of The Mines (2015), it was about time to include all of these interesting memories to a cycle route that helps you to connect to this remarkable part of history.

The cycle route ‘Along Mine and Water ‘, takes you to Geleen, Stein and Urmond. Feast your eyes on the historic city-quarter ‘Oud-Geleen’ and experience the past, lookout over the expansive Juliana Canal and learn more about a typical Limburg craft at ‘De Fontein’ brewery. Halfway, you can have a break in the village of Stein and have lunch at stylish LUNA. The route takes you back to the starting point, at the vivid market square of Geleen, where you can also park your car close by. This route is not signposted but is easy to follow via a separate downloadable route description.
