Aga Cela was born in 1959 in Heinsberg, Germany. She has been painting and drawing since childhood. As a self-taught artist, she devoted all her free time to her artistic work, with a particular preference for portraits. Her work is both figurative and abstract.

She seeks to reveal the inner essence of the people she portrays, often placing them in the world of clowns. Using Chinese ink on rice paper, she depicts inner movement, partly inspired by Butoh dance. Her abstract compositions, created with ink, charcoal, oil paint and acrylic, arise from inner impulses.

Her drawings include sketches of people or groups, often captured during concerts, dance performances or theatre performances. Numerous watercolours (miniatures in A6 format or smaller) depict the landscape between the villages of Slek and Pey. Aga Cela has exhibited internationally in Germany, the United States, England, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands.
